Back when “The Cloud” was still called “The Internet” there were folks who were busy working hard firmly looking skywards. Two of them will be joining us at funconf.
Few would argue that Amazon are at the forefront of the cloud computing movement. Amazon Web Services’s line of products have the humble goal of commoditizing the infrastructure that makes the web work.
Against that background, my chest is swelling with pride to welcome Werner Vogels, CTO and Vice President of Amazon.com to the funconf lineup. If you check the dictionary for “innovation”, you’re sure to find a picture of Dr. Vogels.
As a Ruby developer, it also gives me great pleasure to welcome Blake Mizerany to the lineup too. Blake works for Heroku, a company doing very interesting things with Amazon’s EC2 platform. Blake is also one of the lead developers of the Sinatra web framework. Sinatra makes it deadly simple to build REST web interfaces. Some might call it the future.
